Obituary:
Mr. Walter Leonard Buckingham, Sr. of Shelbyville, Tennessee passed away Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. He was born on January 4, 1951 in Shelbyville, Tennessee.

Mr. Buckingham was the fourth child of Roy Frank Buckingham, Sr. and Mary Ellen Buckingham both of whom preceded him in death along with two brothers, Harvey Buckingham and Nathaniel "Boddie" Reese.

Walter was a truck driver by trade and moved house trailers before he became an Assistant Superintendent for the City of Shelbyville, Tennessee where he worked for 22 years. He was a Youth Director from 1996 to 2010 until he hurt his back at which time his health began to fail.

At an early age Walter became a member of the Church of Christ. In 1972 he was united in holy matrimony to and leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, of 39 years Carolyn Marie Warren Buckingham; two sons, Walter L. Buckingham, Jr. and Wendell Sha Buckingham, Sr. He is also survived by a daughter, Yolanda Marable; grandchildren, Aled K. Marale, Aidan Q. Marable, Armand R. Marable, Aleyah D. Buckingham and Wendell S. Buckingham, Jr. all of Shelbyville, Tennessee; sister, Mary Lucille Gill of Nashville, Tennessee; brother, Roy Frank (Barbara) Buckingham, Jr. of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; two Godchildren, T.T. and Vivan Ward; six brothers-in-law; six sisters-in-law; aunts, Stella Rippy, Dorothy Flack and Nun Sheffield; uncle, Ben Sheffield; devoted friends, Betty Ann Buckingham and Ronnie E. Chunn; other relatives and friends.
